Make four groups
Create keep, give away, ordinary disposal, and special-handling groups. Do not mix paint, chemicals, batteries, fuel, propane cylinders, or unknown liquids with general shed debris. The removal estimate should cover the structure only after the remaining contents are understood.
Remove loose and valuable items
Take out hand tools, power tools, documents, keys, spare parts, and anything attached only by a hook. Check rafters, shelves, cabinets, and the space behind stored lumber. Small valuable items are easy to miss once dismantling starts.
Leave built-ins visible
Empty built-in shelves and benches, but do not tear them out just to make the shed look clear. Photograph them. Built-ins affect labor and debris volume, so the estimator needs to see them in place.
Flag heavy or awkward pieces
Tell the provider about equipment that cannot move through the doorway, floor safes, workbenches, or machines bolted down. These are separate handling questions, not ordinary shed contents.
Final walk-through
Open every cabinet, sweep the floor enough to see it, and trace any wire or pipe leaving the shed. Photograph the empty interior and access route. Keep the four groups away from the path the crew will use.
